CEO of Browan Communications joins LoRa Alliance board
Wed, 13th Dec 2023

The LoRa Alliance, a global organisation supporting the LoRaWAN standard for Internet of Things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), has announced the joining of Henry Huang, CEO of Browan Communications, Inc., to its board of directors. With Browan Communications being a significant manufacturer of LoRaWAN end-devices, Huang’s inclusion in the board reflects the needs of this crucial sector within the Alliance. Huang’s role also signifies strengthening of the Alliance's commitment in Asia.

Donna Moore, CEO and Chairwoman of the LoRa Alliance, states, "One of the key trends we have seen this year is rapid acceleration in the volume and diversity of end-devices using the LoRaWAN standard from manufacturers worldwide. The number of LoRaWAN CertifiedCM end-devices continues to grow, to compete for RFPs that require certified devices." She expressed her enthusiasm at Huang's appointment, indicating his dual role in representing a vital sector of their ecosystem and aiding regions across Southeast Asia that face global challenges and stands to benefit from LoRaWAN use.

Moore looks forward to Huang's leadership in exploiting LoRaWAN to support these communities, pointing out the potential improvements in quality of life and combating environmental issues. The LoRaWAN standard differentiates itself amongst LPWAN technologies through its open standard approach and the support of a vast supplier ecosystem. This arrangement eliminates vendor lock-in issues associated with proprietary methods while fostering innovation and synergy among ecosystem participants. Bolstered by a robust LPWAN certification programme, LoRaWAN continues to lead in smart city, smart buildings, and smart utilities applications.

Expressing his outlook, Henry Huang states, "We look forward to supporting the LoRa Alliance, sharing our perspective as a LoRaWAN gateway and end-devices manufacturer, as well as contributing our knowledge of the region's IoT market dynamics." He is eager to serve as a LoRaWAN ambassador in Asia to proliferate, educate and boost the region's interest in LoRaWAN, driving higher technology adoption in IoT deployments and creating more business opportunities for fellow alliance members.

The LoRaWAN standard, backed by over 170 significant mobile network operators globally, carries the technical flexibility needed to cover a broad range of fixed and mobile IoT applications. It's reliable LoRaWAN Certification programme ensures that devices work as specified, making it the de facto global standard for secure, carrier-grade IoT LPWAN connectivity.
