Cerillion wins GBP £42.5m Omantel telecoms software deal
Cerillion has signed its largest contract to date, agreeing a deal worth about £42.5 million with Oman Telecommunications, known as Omantel.
The five-year agreement is structured on a subscription basis. Cerillion will supply and install its business support systems (BSS) and operations support systems (OSS) software, along with support and maintenance, hosting, and managed services.
Omantel is Oman's integrated telecommunications services provider, offering mobile, fixed-line and broadband services to consumers, businesses and other telecom operators across Oman and international markets.
Preliminary work on the project has already begun. The contract includes an initial implementation phase before the subscription term starts.
Omantel selected Cerillion following a tender process that included larger BSS and OSS platform suppliers. Cerillion cited its productised model and full-service delivery approach as key factors in the selection.
The company also highlighted an operating model focused on regular upgrades and operational flexibility, positioning the platform as an alternative to bespoke systems on a total cost-of-ownership basis.
Platform scope
Cerillion provides billing, charging and customer relationship management software. Under the agreement, its BSS and OSS suite will be deployed across Omantel's telecom services, covering technology supply and installation as well as ongoing services throughout the contract term.
In telecommunications, BSS platforms typically manage commercial and customer-facing processes such as product catalogue management, customer care and billing. OSS platforms usually handle network-facing functions, including service fulfilment and assurance.
Cerillion is headquartered in London, with operations in India and Bulgaria, and a sales presence across continental Europe, the US, Singapore and Australia.
The company reports around 70 customer installations in approximately 45 countries, with a primary focus on telecommunications providers, alongside customers in utilities and financial services.
Cerillion originated within Logica before a management buyout in 1999 and joined AIM in 2016.
Omantel positions itself as a central player in Oman's communications market and regional connectivity initiatives. The contract aligns with Oman Vision 2040, the country's long-term economic development programme.
Cerillion's chief executive framed the deal within Omantel's broader transformation strategy.
"Omantel is transforming itself into a regional technology powerhouse and expanding Oman's digital infrastructure with advanced innovation initiatives, in support of Oman Vision 2040, which is guiding the country's economic development."
"We are delighted to be partnering with Omantel at this exciting time and believe that our selection is testimony to the strength of our offering and services," said Louis Hall, Chief Executive Officer, Cerillion.
The contract value is denominated in Omani rials and converted into pounds using a spot exchange rate of 1 OMR to £1.93.
The deal underpins market expectations for Cerillion's financial year ending in 2026 and later periods, with work now underway during the implementation phase.
