GIS Cloud doubles user growth as AI tools drive uptake

GIS Cloud has doubled its user growth, with more than 100 new users now joining the online mapping platform each day.
The increase comes as the company rolls out new artificial intelligence tools for working with maps and spatial data.
Total users have risen to more than 220,000 across more than 60 countries and 30-plus industries. More than two million maps have been created on the platform to date.
GIS Cloud has launched GIS Cloud AI, which lets users work with maps and geospatial data through plain-language prompts. It has also introduced an MCP server and connectors for ChatGPT and Claude, allowing spatial data to be used inside those tools.
Its AI assistant has already recorded more than 50,000 interactions. Another feature, AI Form Fill, is designed to help field teams complete forms more quickly by reducing manual data entry.
Broader access
The latest product changes are aimed at organisations that collect large volumes of location data from satellites, sensors and field operations, but do not want to rely solely on specialist geographic information systems teams.
That reflects a wider shift in how businesses and public bodies use geospatial technology. Instead of routing mapping and location analysis through a small group of technical specialists, organisations are looking for ways to make that data available to operational staff, field workers and managers.
"Many organisations run on location data, but for decades using it meant going through a small group of specialists and desktop tools. AI has removed that bottleneck. People can now ask questions of their maps and data in plain language and get answers in seconds, which is why more than a hundred new users are arriving every day. We see GIS Cloud AI as a universal multiplier: a layer that can sit on top of any existing GIS deployment, from the incumbents to newer vendors, and open up location data to entire organisations and their stakeholders with an ease that simply wasn't possible before," said Dino Ravnic, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GIS Cloud.
Customer base
Organisations using the platform include ASTERRA, Pipe View America and InfraTrace. Those customers are applying the software across a broader range of workflows as adoption spreads beyond specialist mapping teams.
ASTERRA uses GIS Cloud to link satellite-based intelligence with field work for utilities. Its U-Collect mobile application, built on GIS Cloud, is used by partners and utility crews to verify and record underground water leaks in the field, with deployments ranging from Brazil to the Philippines.
The group is also seeking to expand in the UK public sector after being selected for the G-Cloud 15 framework. Its ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certifications are intended to support enterprise and public sector use.
Founded in 2010, GIS Cloud describes itself as an early online GIS provider. Its platform supports cloud and on-premises deployments and is used in sectors including government, utilities, engineering, construction, telecommunications, forestry and non-profits.
So far, growth has been driven entirely by organic channels, with daily additions now exceeding 100 users.
