Martyn Bullerwell named Chief Executive Officer at Telefónica Tech UK

Thu, 14th Aug 2025

Martyn Bullerwell has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Telefónica Tech UK&I, following the departure of Mark Gorton from the role.

Leadership change

Bullerwell takes over leadership at a time when Telefónica Tech UK&I is experiencing growth, particularly after establishing a new headquarters in London earlier this year. His promotion comes after serving as Vice President of the Data & AI Practise within the company. Bullerwell joined Telefónica Tech through the acquisition of the technology firm he had founded.

He has built his career in technology leadership and business scaling, focusing on data, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. Since Telefónica Tech acquired his company, Bullerwell has contributed to broadening the company's offerings in data and AI, solidifying his reputation in these strategic sectors.

"I am excited to take on this role and to build on the strong foundation laid by Mark and the leadership team. We will continue to focus on delivering value for our customers and driving sustainable growth in our markets."

Outgoing CEO

Mark Gorton has stepped down after six years at Telefónica Tech UK&I, three of which were spent as Chief Executive Officer. Gorton initially joined the business as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He was described as being instrumental during a period of business transformation that followed Telefónica Tech's acquisition of the business in 2021.

Gorton also played a significant role in integrating Incremental Group in 2022. Under his leadership, Telefónica Tech UK&I expanded its position in the market and achieved growth in the areas of cloud computing, cyber security, business applications, and data and AI services.

Strategic developments

The announcement of Bullerwell's appointment follows several strategic developments at Telefónica Tech UK&I. In March 2025, the company opened a new headquarters based at 20 Fenchurch Street in London. According to the company, the office is intended as a centre for innovation, collaboration, and engagement with clients and partners, as well as a marker of Telefónica Tech UK&I's evolving role in the technology services sector.

Bullerwell's career prior to joining Telefónica Tech focused on building and growing a technology business, with particular emphasis on data, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation. These areas remain central to Telefónica Tech UK&I's current business strategy and offerings.

Growth trajectory

Telefónica Tech UK&I continues to deliver services across cyber security, cloud solutions, business applications, and data and AI. The company's recent activities, including its expansion and new headquarters, reflect ongoing efforts to reinforce its presence in the UK and Ireland markets.
