TTC reports 74% surge in e-learning driver uptake

Today

TTC has reported a significant 74% year-on-year increase in the uptake of its e-learning driver training programmes.

The company revealed that over 54,000 hours of online driver training, including the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), were completed in 2024. This increase reflects a growing commitment among UK businesses to enhance road safety and meet their duty of care obligations.

Businesses are recognising that investing in comprehensive risk management solutions can offer significant cost savings. By profiling drivers and identifying risky driving behaviours early, companies can reduce expenditures related to accident repair and vehicle downtime.

Organisations of varying sizes, from those with fewer than 100 vehicles to large enterprises managing thousands of vehicles, are opting for targeted e-driver training. Such training is gaining traction particularly among grey fleets, which comprise approximately 14 million drivers in the UK and offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional company car fleets.

TTC provides what it says is the industry's only all-in-one, tech-driven, cloud-based driver risk and compliance platform called TTC Continuum. Initially adopted by businesses for driver and licence checks, the platform is increasingly being used for comprehensive risk management, enabling the monitoring of driver behaviour and delivery of tailored intervention training.

Continuum incorporates driver risk and compliance data, with its algorithms and automation features offering personalised training recommendations. Users have the option to integrate telematics data for tasks like tracking driver hours, processing expenses, and monitoring behaviour, all facilitated through the Continuum mobile app.

The e-learning and video modules available via Continuum cover topics such as Hazard Awareness, Defensive Road Positioning, Eco-Safe Driving, and Smart Motorways. These modules are designed to enhance skills and promote safer driving practices. As businesses aim to improve their environmental impact, drivers gain knowledge crucial for transitioning to alternative fuel vehicles and reducing carbon footprints.

"It is great to see the range of companies choosing e-driver training," commented Rich Hickin, Group Sales Director for TTC Group. "Whether fleet car, commercial fleet, or grey fleet drivers, those who drive for work are often under time pressure. More employers are choosing to implement online risk assessments to identify targeted driver training requirements, so importantly, drivers are able to access vital e-learning modules, easily incorporating them into their daily schedules."

He further stated, "With the ease and accessibility of driver risk assessment, targeted e-learning, and feedback into driver profiles, it is also reassuring to witness more companies committing to ongoing driver training, rather than piecemeal. This growing commitment to driver safety and reducing road risk can only be applauded."

TTC has recently invested in updating Continuum, enhancing its interface and usability to bring critical insights and tools into sharper focus. This includes compliance tracking performance and new customisable dashboards tailored to drivers' individual workflows.
