HCLSoftware launches Domino 14.5 for secure government AI
HCLSoftware has introduced HCL Domino 14.5, a software solution designed for governments and regulated organisations focused on data privacy.
The updated HCL Domino platform now features Domino IQ, a sovereign artificial intelligence extension that aims to provide secure, compliant, and private collaboration across communication channels such as email, chat, meetings and documents. The company said the new release is already supporting over 200 government agencies in their efforts to safeguard sensitive data.
Data privacy and independence
HCL Domino 14.5 is positioned to address the growing concern among government bodies and regulated sectors over data sovereignty and security. Richard Jefts, Executive Vice President and General Manager of HCLSoftware, stated, "In an uncertain geopolitical landscape, governments and regulated organisations, such as private banks, are increasingly concerned about their data sovereignty and digital independence."
"The importance of data sovereignty and avoiding unnecessary foreign government influence extends beyond SaaS solutions and AI. Specifically for collaboration - the sensitive data within email, chat, video recordings and documents, With the launch of Domino+ 14.5, HCLSoftware is helping over 200+ government agencies safeguard their sensitive data."
The company highlights that customers using the Domino platform can leverage artificial intelligence for automating tasks and analysing data, while ensuring that these AI models are developed either by their own organisation or trusted partners. HCLSoftware also noted that the new Domino IQ extension is compliant with regulatory frameworks such as the European AI Act, which is intended to shape AI development and deployment in the European Union, giving organisations granular control over their AI investments.
One key feature emphasised by HCLSoftware is the removal of reliance on foreign cloud-based services by allowing organisations to maintain their data and AI operations within a sovereign environment.
Infrastructure partnership
The launch of Domino 14.5 is supported by cloud infrastructure from IONOS, a European hosting provider. Achim Weiss, Chief Executive Officer of IONOS, commented on the importance of digital sovereignty, particularly for organisations with specific data protection requirements:
"Today more than ever, true digital sovereignty is the key to Europe's digital future. That's why at IONOS we are proud to provide the sovereign cloud infrastructure for HCL's sovereign collaboration solutions. Our platform is powerful, secure, and – above all – free from foreign access. Together, we are setting an example for responsible innovation and digital self-determination, a key factor for companies and institutions in regulated industries with particularly sensitive requirements."
Compliance and certification
The new Domino release has received certification for information security from BSI, the Federal Office for Information Security in Germany, and makes use of Security Event and Incident Management (SEIM) tools. HCLSoftware also stated that Domino 14.5 is designed to meet the requirements of the European Accessibility Act, which governs accessibility for digital services and web applications across business user experiences.
In line with growing demand for privacy-focused collaboration tools, the company said that the updated Domino+ solution includes enhanced chat and meeting capabilities that are ready for deployment within regulated sectors.
The latest version of Domino adds to HCLSoftware's portfolio for government and regulated markets, which, according to the company, is now in use at more than 200 agencies navigating compliance and security demands.
