Pelion wins key IoT Breakthrough award for enterprise

Wed, 14th Jan 2026

Pelion has secured the Emerging Company of the Year award for the enterprise market at the Internet of Things Breakthrough Awards, bringing international acclaim to the Glasgow-based mobile virtual network operator. The company stated that the award recognises its specialist service offering for enterprise IoT connectivity. Pelion currently supports more than 1,000 enterprises across the UK, the US, and other global markets, counting The Access Group, Komatsu, and Avanti West Coast among its key clients.

Awards programme

The IoT Breakthrough Awards are now in their 10th year. The organisers said the programme attracted thousands of nominations from more than 15 countries. They said winners included Cisco, Emerson, and Schneider Electric.

Pelion's award sits in a category that focuses on enterprise deployments. The company pointed to requirements it said large organisations face across connectivity, reliability, and security.

Product updates

Pelion tied the recognition to changes it made over the past year. It said it completed a customer-focused rebrand. It also launched a Consumer eSIM for IoT. Pelion said it rolled out Pelion Plans for different use cases.

The company positioned its services around connecting and managing devices across deployments. It also framed its offering in terms of security and compliance.

Reliability claims

Pelion said it provides 99.995% reliability to clients. It compared this with what it described as average industry standard downtime of 87 hours per year. Pelion said its service reduced that to 28 minutes.

Industry rankings

Pelion also cited performance on the peer-reviewed industry ranking platform G2. It said it received highest performer badges in several categories. These included "EMEA Regional Leader" and "IoT Connectivity Management Leader".

Dave Weidner, CEO of Pelion, linked the award to how customers use the service in large-scale deployments.

"Pelion is built to make IoT connectivity effortless at enterprise scale. Customers come to us to achieve an outcome - cut costs, reduce outages, and eliminate operational complexity for their diverse deployment - all without compromising on security or compliance. "We're proud to be named IoT Breakthrough's 'Emerging Company of the Year for the Enterprise Market'. We'll continue to offer seamless, end-to-end IoT connectivity that enables businesses to connect, manage, and secure devices anywhere, transforming enterprise IoT operations into a future-proof competitive advantage," said Dave Weidner, CEO, Pelion.

IoT Breakthrough Managing Director Steve Johansson described challenges that large organisations face when connecting devices across regions and suppliers.

Pelion is redefining how enterprises deploy, scale, and manage IoT at a global level. Despite IoT's transformative opportunities, enterprises often face fragmented solutions, high costs, and operational complexity when connecting devices worldwide. Traditional providers usually focus on one element of IoT, making it a challenge to deploy complex projects confidently.

"Through innovation, operational excellence, and unmatched IoT expertise, Pelion empowers enterprises to focus on outcomes rather than obstacles. Pelion's integrated solution simplifies complexity, enables global scale, and delivers reliable, secure connectivity," said Johansson.

Pelion began life as Stream Technologies and said it was founded in 2000 as an IoT-focused MVNO. The company said it has been early to market with LPWAN, eSIM and 5G. It said it now focuses on IoT connectivity for enterprise clients across industries.
