PointCast unveils cost-saving satellite internet solution
PointCast, a sub-brand of Kacific Group, has launched an autonomous and cost-effective satellite solution aimed at transforming broadband delivery for businesses.
The newly introduced system, described as a motorised VSAT solution, is engineered to simplify the installation process through advanced self-pointing and calibration technology. This helps reduce costs while enhancing service reliability for different business environments, making satellite connectivity more accessible and efficient.
Traditional VSAT installations often require skilled technicians, driving up costs and deployment times. PointCast notably cuts deployment time by up to 50% and simplifies the setup to a three-step process: mounting the control unit and antenna, plugging in power cables, and relying on self-calibration to ensure precise satellite alignment.
Compared to traditional installation expenses that can reach up to USD $1,000, PointCast's approach offers a more economical and scalable option, using commercial off-the-shelf components for US-compliant hardware designed in Singapore.
Christian Patouraux, CEO of Kacific, remarked, "Traditional VSAT installations are complex and costly, often requiring significant expertise. PointCast changes that, bringing an affordable, plug-and-play solution that's as simple as powering on a device. It redefines connectivity standards by delivering advanced functionality at a price point that was previously unimaginable."
PointCast supports Ku and Ka-band satellites, offering flexibility for satellite systems across 75cm to 1.2m dish sizes. It targets sectors needing reliable connectivity in remote areas, such as emergency response, remote industries like mining and construction, and government and education projects focused on rural connectivity.
The system provides higher signal quality and improved bandwidth efficiency with a self-calibration precision of sub-0.05 degrees, a feature uncommon at its price point. Additionally, it includes cloud-based fleet management for centralised monitoring and troubleshooting, and an autonomous safeguarding feature that ensures operational continuity during adverse weather conditions.
Businesses currently providing broadband services could benefit from PointCast, which aims to optimise network performance and reduce operational costs by minimising downtime and decreasing the need for field support.
PointCast is set to be available starting at USD $900, presenting a solution that promises reliability, scalability, and accessibility to industries worldwide, particularly those in challenging and underserved environments.
