Trend Micro to unveil 5G cybersecurity solution at MWC Barcelona 2024
Trend Micro, a global cybersecurity firm, has announced its plans to present its unique, platform-based approach to safeguarding the ever-growing enterprise attack surface including the protection of 5G networks, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2024. This platform utilises the deep next-generation wireless expertise of subsidiary CTOne, which was launched last year with an aim to boost 5G network security.
With unified visibility, detection, protection, and response established as the top requirement for enterprise-level security due to evolving threats and attacks, the focus of the cybersecurity industry is shifting. Private 5G networks are already bringing about transformative changes across various industries, including healthcare, retail, energy, and manufacturing. However, such developments also introduce complexity and expand the digital attack surface, which can potentially undermine business value.
Srujan Talakokkula, Managing Director at Trend Micro, ANZ, Commercial, explained, "Private 5G networks are already transforming industries as diverse as healthcare, retail, energy, and manufacturing. But such projects also add complexity and expand the digital attack surface, threatening to erode business value. Trend offers a blend of deep domain expertise and commitment to powerful, centralised protection with the world's broadest enterprise security platform, including 5G security."
This enlarged attack surface calls for comprehensive security across IT, OT, and CT environments to bring consistency and ease into the risk management strategy for security teams, whilst bolstering their zero-trust strategies. This is where the combined value of Trend and CTOne, a Trend Micro subsidiary, comes into play. Their platform approach offers persistent detection, wide-ranging protection, and swift response across all enterprise sectors, including private 5G settings.
CTOne, equipped with deep next-generation wireless expertise, will also be showcasing its newly announced CTOne SecureRAN solution at MWC. It's specifically designed to tackle the cybersecurity risks associated with Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) architectures. Securing private 5G networks has become paramount to manage risk in contemporary business operations, and CTOne's solutions are in alignment with Trend's strategic vision for digital transformation safety and enterprise attack surface security.
When amalgamated, the Trend Vision One platform and CTOne provide end-to-end defence and AI-driven XDR across several environments including endpoint, email, cloud, RAN (Radio Access Network), MEC (Multi-Access Edge Computing), and 5GC (core) environments. This union offers an adept strategy to manage increasingly complex threats emerging with the expansion of private 5G networks and the convergence of IT and OT technologies.
Trend Micro's cybersecurity platform aims to protect hundreds of thousands of organisations and millions of individuals across clouds, networks, devices, and endpoints. As an expert in cloud and enterprise cybersecurity, the platform delivers a range of advanced threat defence techniques optimised for environments like AWS, Microsoft, and Google, and central visibility for better, faster detection and response.
