Sony Xperia 10 VII debuts in UK with new camera features

Wed, 17th Sep 2025

Sony has announced the Xperia 10 VII smartphone, introducing upgraded features and a refreshed design for its 10 series.

The Xperia 10 VII is available for pre-order in the UK at GBP £399 and in Europe at EUR €449. It comes in three colour options: white, turquoise, and charcoal black. The device features a new dedicated camera 'shutter button', enhanced camera sensors, improved battery life, and advanced audio and display technology.

Camera and shutter button

The smartphone offers a dedicated 'shutter button' on its side, allowing users to quickly launch the camera app and capture photos, even with a locked screen. A long-press on the button triggers the camera, enabling users to capture important moments without delay. Sony states that the camera system consists of two rear camera lenses covering three focal lengths - 16mm, 24mm, and 48mm. The 16mm lens features a 1/3-inch sensor, while the 24mm lens is equipped with a newly installed 1/1.56-inch sensor, approximately 1.6 times larger than the sensor in the previous model. This sensor is designed to deliver brighter and clearer images, particularly in low-light conditions.

The three focal lengths allow users to switch from ultra-wide to wide and zoom shots, extending the versatility for capturing different scenes.

Battery and performance

According to Sony, the Xperia 10 VII features a battery that can last up to two consecutive days with typical use, and includes "Adaptive charging" technology designed to mitigate battery degradation even after four years of use. Processing speed is enhanced with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, aiming to ensure smooth loading for pages and videos.

The device also supports six years of security updates and up to four operating system version upgrades, which Sony highlights as part of its approach to ensuring long-term usability and customer peace of mind.

Display and audio

The Xperia 10 VII features a 19.5:9 aspect ratio display, designed to enhance the comfort of content consumption and web browsing. The screen supports a 120 Hz refresh rate for smoother visuals. Front-facing speakers have been redesigned to reduce cabinet vibration and enhance audio clarity, particularly in the bass and mid-bass ranges. Sony indicates that Bluetooth transmission power has been doubled compared to the previous generation, with adaptive sound quality during AAC connections to maintain reliable audio in crowded or unstable networks.

Google features

The handset supports Circle to Search with Google and Google Gemini. With Circle to Search, users can search for information by circling, highlighting, or tapping on any on-screen content without needing to switch apps. Google Gemini, the AI assistant, is integrated and accessed by holding the power button, offering support with writing, planning, learning, and brainstorming tasks, as well as real-time conversations for idea development and practice.

Design and durability

The Xperia 10 VII is constructed with a lightweight (168g), sleek frame and a rear design featuring a repositioned camera layout and a smooth, matte texture. The display uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for improved drop and scratch resistance. Sony notes the form factor is reworked for more comfortable handling and better viewing experiences.

Accessories including a newly designed Style Cover for the Xperia 10 VII are sold separately and match the device's colour variants. The cover incorporates a three-colour gradient design, button-friendly sides, and a back material resistant to yellowing.

Environmental considerations

Sony states that the product packaging eliminates plastic, using the company's own blended material for boxes and trays. Approximately 77% by weight of certain internal and external components are made from environmentally friendly resins, including recycled and plant-derived materials such as SORPLAS.

The Xperia 10 VII will be released in select markets starting in September 2025. The company indicates that the device's design, extended software support, and environmental initiatives are key aspects of this latest release in the Xperia series.
